Beginners Lace!
Lace can be intimidating as a beginner, but your best bet is to start with something that’s even sided and either rectangular or square, like a washcloth, scarf, or stole / rectangular shawl.
The reason for this is that for every stitch you increase, like with the YO stitch for example, there has to be a stitch decreased to keep it even. The repetition of the evenness of the pattern will make it natural to you faster than it would for say a triangle shawl, mittens, a hat, or any other knit that requires a net increase or decrease in stitches along the length of it.
